Isn’t it basically print out what you feel is your best ones and arrange them nicely? Like for eg on a collage and showing examples of your inspiration alongside it.

Essentially, that’s what I thought, yeah.

So, I got a bunch of my favourite photos printed up to A4 size, and fired them into a display book binder.

But then I got to thinking…well, why would you need a uni class on that? So I assume I’m missing something.

I need to get a few photos of babies / toddlers printed. I’ve obviously tonnes of photos of Soph, but none printed to A4 size. And because I’m social maladjusted, there are the same 4 or 5 people popping up through out the portfolio.

So, I’m wanting to place an open call for models on my Facebook page but before I do that, I want to tidy it up a bit…it’s a bit barren looking…And most of the people who have liked it are just my normal friends anyway. ¬_¬

And I want to get an actual website up and running.

I’m thinking that I need all of these things in place before I even go to a local studio and get rejected anyway to ask if they have any positions open.

Which all need either time or money. Neither of which I seem to have enough of.

Does anyone have any experience with PRINTED PORTFOLIOS ?

Long story short, I’m getting things into gear about “taking my photography further” and so I’m going to go around local photo studios in Ayr to see if they want to take me on, even as an assistant / tea maker.

I have a portfolio mostly printed up. But I don’t know if it’s any use. I’ve never studied photography at college/uni and I think they have a folio prep segment to the course? Well, I know nothing of it. So, do any of you guys?

If I send photos / describe really well / make a gif of an interpretive dance about how I feel about the portfolio, would anyone be able to say with any certainty that it’s any good, or just useless?

HEY! GUYS!

I updated my Facebook page cover photo!
It only took me two tries!

Feel free to be totally honest…is there anything in this collection that doesn’t belong there?

There are only 3 pages, so it’s not like it’ll take anyone too long to have a mooch through it.

But really, ANON IS ON in my ask box, and I am asking for honest feedback…if something is shite, don’t hesitate to tell me.

Now is the time for you to unleash the motherfucking fury.

Since I had a wee whinge yesterday about my photos, I figured I should do something about it.

My Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/KittWakerPhotography ), for instance, looks a bit shitty. Step one to fixing that will be actually getting some sort of portfolio organised ( something I’ve been meaning to do for literally years )

Which means, I’m going to go through my “My Photo” tag on Tumblr and then add the “Portfolio” tag to the best ones….which will take me forever.

Meh.

But it’ll pay off in the end, I suspect.

While Sophie was asleep, I started a bit of photoshoppery on this recent pic of Alix Ruin.

Mary Jane (Kitt Walker Photography)

The ever wonderful Alix Ruin ( who also took care of the editing, because I fucking hate that part of photography these days! ) as Spiderman’s Mary Jane. Was an awesome wee day out that, bombing around Eglington Park in the blistering sunshine.

Not so pouty. heh

Suzanne came round this evening, as she couldn’t get the disk I burned her to work.

The plan was, she would examine the photos here, at mine, and I would edit them “live” in front of her. Dangerous, because it meant that she could feasibly just keep finding things that needed edited, whereas, via email, she would be more inclined to ignore the little unimportant, un-noticable things.

After much, much deliberation, this is the photo, and the edit, she chose. She didn’t want it to be “too edited” looking, but at the same time, wanted it to look clean and crisp.

All in, I’m very happy with that shoot, not least because Suzanne was amazing at telling the model what to do and how to pose!

I bought this ages ago. I have 2 rolls of film sitting there, but, since it’s been so very, very dour and dark here, I’m put off even loading it.

Once summer arrives and we get all 2 days of sunshine ( Scotland isn’t famed for it’s bright sunny days ) I’ll be out and about taking photos with it.

I’ve been meaning to take photos of my recent new toys for ages, and today I finally got round to snapping one or two.

This, as I’m sure you’re aware, is the Lunartik mini cup of tea figure. I’d previously posted photos of the full size one, and I should really do a comparison shot, because this mini is just so dinky!

I have another mini, laying around the house somewhere, but I couldn’t find it… ¬_¬

Yes, see, now that I’m getting better at removing a background, the next problem is most definitely that I don’t know with what to fill it!

A mild grey with some noise added? That’ll do for now, I guess.
