A couple of Valentines Day’s ago, Emmy the Great played King Tuts.

I can’t remember why I didn’t make it along, but the more I listen to her second album, the more I regret not being able to go.

I had this as my work desktop for sooooooooooo long

I think everyone should go and see the California Dreams show, because, frankly, it’s unlike anything else. It was just so much more that I thought a gig could be.

On the other hand, that would also be leaving everyone in the world with this “…what now” feeling, an emptiness.

I’ve been a bit fuzzy since the gig…like, it was real life and this is a dream. I don’t know. I’m not a smart enough guy to have the words for it.

Meh.

Next March 9?

FUNK YEAH THAT’S HAPPENING :D

Tickets on sale 4th November. So excited :D

Count. Me. In.

Better not be at the fucking Cathouse again, thou

plus, it’s not really that interesting.

So, first up, Katy Perry gig on the 1st Nov. Doors are 6:30, I think, and there are two supports. So….I’m assuming that she’s not gonna hit the stage proper until like 8:30 earliest?

Because with me working, us having to drop Sophie off with Katie’s mum, driving the hour and a bit drive up to Glasgow and then navigate city centre traffic when we don’t know where we’re going….8:30 is about as early as we can make it!

Point 2. Let’s just assume I manage to meet Katy Perry. What the fuck am I to do with my beard? Like, does anyone know where she stands on guys with beards? Should I still with my full hobo or trim it down to something approaching a style or, just whoooooosh shave that monkeyfluffer right off my face and be left with a weird babyface that makes my top lip look like a duck’s bill?

ALSO! Is it sad / cliche / a dick move for me to wear my Sailor Perry tshirt?

Was anyone planning on going to the KATY B gig tomorrow night, at Glasgow Arches?

I’ve got 2 tickets ( I say I, I mean, the boss’ friend ) that need to find a home.

If we work something out before 5pm, I can Special Delivery them to you, and you’d have them tomorrow morning.

So, any offers? Don’t be afraid to offer silly low….I don’t think the guy is bothered for recovering the cost at this point ( i.e. I might be able to convince him to give them away for free! )

?

This fella, is the co-owner of Su Casa ( and, the guy who was handing out pizza in the last photo ), Benjamin Ellis.

Best. Performer. Of the night.

It was practically unfair having him on, as he just make everyone else look mince, even though they were actually more than competent.

But he just fucking rocked.

By this point, Katie has texted one of the band members to find out where they are, since they should be on soon. Turns out, none of the band actually knew about this Su Casa gig. That one of the band, Tweedie, just makes bookings, and doesn’t even tell the rest of the band, so, invariably, they don’t show up!

These guys were alright, but I think having a drummer was kinda cheating at an acoustic night…

Still haven’t seen our friends band yet, by this point in the night. As in, they haven’t shown up at the venue yet. Hmmmmm…..

…and then, from out of no-where, BANG! It’s Bob!

Fuck sake Bob. Not seen you in years! And here you are, playing some lovely songs. Bonus.

I also spotted a girl in the audience who I *think* I went to Primary School with..like, a LONG time ago…my first primary, which I left when I was about 8ish, on account of moving house.

So, I’ve not seen this girl in about 20 actual years, but there was something…a facial gesture….something about the way she held herself…it just flashed in my head, “I remember you!”

At school, her nickname was Jobbie. Lol. I tried to take a photo of her, but I chickened out…

…Some decent musicians play, including the soon-to-be-household-name Little Fire ( who will be on STV’s The Hour tomorrow, for those of you who are a) Scottish and b) unemployed enough to be in at that time  )

He’s good. And a jolly nice guy. Keep an eye out for him, cause you’ll be hearing about him soon.

I love ladies playing the bass. Don’t know why. It just does it for me.

Chevy and the Chasers - Glasgow Barfly

Much has changed since this photo. Chevy and the Chasers split ( this was their last gig ) and now the Glasgow Barfly has closed for good. One one hand, a shame, since I saw some awesome bands at that Barfly, but on the other hand, it was a shit venue, and the sound engineers were clearly tone deaf.
