Marceline//Adventure Time

I want to make another in actual Adventure Time style, but I don’t know if I’ll have the time! Also, I’m fine with how her hair turned out, but I think I’m going to continue to use felt from now on instead.

(Btw, how about that new episode preview? Eh? Eh?)

When I got in from work today, Katie had a surprise waiting for me!

How awesome is this book? I’ll tell you how awesome: Very.

It’s full of lovely little projects like felt dolls and chicken shaped egg-cosys and Kenneth Carrot.

It even comes with a wee sewing kit, some ribbons and a couple of felt squares. Bless.

I can’t wait to get stuck in about it. And maybe I’ll actually learn how to sew properly ( as anyone who has ever received a felt creature of my making will attest: I cannot sew! ) When I got in from work today, Katie had a surprise waiting for me!

I might try and make this one….Katie’s sister got me a metric fuck-tonne of felt and buttons for my Christmas and I’ve been waiting for the right project to come along….

If not Tennant, then maybe the Link one. Or the Poison Ivy.

THE BOXES EVEN HAVE BREATHING HOLES FOR THEM OH MY GOD

What do you do when you have no money, but you want to get someone a birthday present? You make one! This would be a much better plan, however, if you had any skills in craft, which I don’t. ^_^

It’s Sarah’s birthday and she, like any sane person, loves sloths. I had seen this:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/73763063/cute-sloth-felt-handmade-necklace

and thought it would be ideal for her, save for the fact that she already has a necklace that she isn’t likely to take off. lol

So, step one, copy the outline onto a sheet of paper and cut it out:

Step 2: Using the paper template, cut out 2 shapes of felt ( one for front, one for back )

Step 3: Trim it to size ( holy shit felt is resistant to blunt scissors! ) and stitch on a white bit for a face.

Step 4: Eye thing bits. Now would also be a good time to sew eyes and things. I just did it with a knot of yellow thread.

Step 5: Stitch up half of it, sewing the front and the back together.

Step 6: Stuff the open hole with fluffy toy stuffing. Use a pokey stick to poke it into the corners and into the arms. Or, if you’re like me, and can’t sew, you’ll have accidentally sewn up the tiny arms, and you wont be able to get the stuffing in there. So, you’ll have floppy spazzy arms.

Sew the arms together at the tips, so that he’s all grabby onny to things.

The Esty one was a proper necklace ( not to mention that it was well made ¬_¬ ) but mine took a different route. I went for a bit of ribbon so that it could be worn as a necklace, even though it wont be, or could just be strung up somewhere. And I went for green, so it looked like a vine! Silly sloth! You so lazy!

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH!

Everyone should go follow her, or at very least go wish her a happy birthday, and tell her she’s wonderful:

So….I made this today, for Katie!

I stole the general look of the Tapir from the Nut&Bee pic:

but without the teddy.

It only took me about an hour or two…I know I’m still not that great at it, but it’s only my second ever felt animal thingy.

Katie, however, loooooooooooooooves it. So, mission accomplished!

So, you have an idea in your head, a picture, of how a certain project is going to turn out….but then you start….and shit just doesn’t behave like you expect and why are these scissors so blunt and trying to suck a bit of thread, to put it throu the eye of a needle….is harder to do when half your face is still numb from the dentist and I clearly can’t sew and if I wasn’t so close to finishing, I’d just scrap it and pretend it never happened.

I’ll be in my bed, sulking. Goodnight ¬_¬

On the way home, i also popped into the craft shoppe and now have enough felt to start TWO of my proposed projects. One is for Rhi and one is a surprise! (Taken with picplz.)

Here’s a little something to inspire your Friday afternoon - The coolest homemade dollhouse “suitcase” ever.

Since I don’t sew, what are the chances I could pull this off with a glue gun and a stapler?

Check out all the amazing handmade, crafty goodness here.

Love,
